Uganda celebrates Independence Day on October 9, marking independence in 1962.
The Ugandan flag repeats black, yellow and red horizontal stripes around a central white disc containing a grey crowned crane. The crane is a long-standing national symbol.
Ugandan diaspora families can pair Uganda with another country to represent two national connections at celebrations, family gatherings or sporting events.
